- Before I began writing, I wrote out a character bio for Gerald and all six of the girls. It ended up being nearly forty pages long.
- Gerald naming everything Nikki is an inside joke between me and my wife. I wanted to name our first daughter Nicole, but she vetoed me because she didn’t want me calling our child Nikki. That’s why Nikki, or a version of it appears in nearly every book I have written.
- The original inspiration for Zurra was Lola Bunny from The Loony Tunes show.
